CEO Sleepout Participant Overwhelmed by Support for a Great Cause

Melbourne, VIC, June 25, 2013 – On Thursday 20th of June, Chief Executive Officers and Business Leaders from around the country joined the 2013 Vinnies CEO Sleepout, to help raise awareness and funds in support of essential homeless services across Australia. Tony Barber, Deputy CEO of Willis Australasia, participated in Melbourne where a winter cold snap saw the overnight temperature drop to a chilly 3 degrees.

Tony says receiving a first-hand insight into the plight of the 105,000 homeless people in Australia has left a lasting impression. “On a personal level, I feel the most profound things I took away from the experience were an increase in my own social conscience, and an understanding of the great work that so many people do in trying to help the homeless. The 19th of June 2014 is already locked in my diary for next year’s event and I look forward to encouraging others to get involved.”

Tony’s goal was to raise at least $5,000 for the cause. However, due to the great volume of donations that were made by Willis Associates, Willis, insurer partners and industry friends and colleagues, Tony is very proud to have raised more than $17,500, making him the number one event fundraiser in Victoria (as at 24 June 2013). “Thank you to everyone from across the industry who gave so generously to this worthy cause. I am very grateful for your support,” he said.

The tally remains open until the end of August. Anyone still wishing to make a donation can visit Tony’s donation page here -http://www.ceosleepout.org.au/ceos/vic-ceos/tony-barber-willisaustralasia
