New York, NY, March 5, 2008 - Willis Group Holdings (NYSE: WSH), the global insurance broker, today announced the appointment of Nigel Brunning as Senior Vice President and Regional Partner for Willis of Louisiana, Inc., effective immediately. Brunning’s responsibilities include branch management of Willis’ operations in Louisiana while expanding the existing client base in both marine and non-marine industries. Commenting on the appointment, Wayne Herrington, Executive Vice President of Willis Americas, and National Partner, said, "Nigel brings exceptional experience and unique skills to this position. He will be a valuable asset to our existing clients in New Orleans, and we are looking forward to his development of new business.”
"Nigel's appointment to Regional Partner for Willis of Louisiana is consistent with the execution of our strategy to connect specialist expertise with our retail network," stated Joe Trotti, CEO of Global Specialties. "Under the leadership of Alistair Rivers, CEO of Global Marine, we have significant plans to develop our Marine platform in support of our customer base and retail network worldwide."
Brunning brings 32 years of experience to the position. He has worked within the Willis Specialties Group in London since his arrival in 2004, principally in the Marine industry sector and other Specialty areas such as Construction, Property and General Casualty. The first 15 years of his career were in the Non-Marine Property and Casualty business, including seven years working in New York and Atlanta.
He began his insurance career in 1976 with a Lloyd’s Broker and worked exclusively with U.S. Non-Marine Property & Casualty clients. In 1981, he moved to New York where he underwrote Primary Non-Marine Casualty business for a Managing General Agent, James P. Daly, Inc. He next went to Atlanta where, despite the turmoil in the insurance market at the time, he took a branch office of three people up to 14 and increased the income four fold. In 1987, he returned to London where he quickly established himself as a leading Marine Broker/Producer for Lloyd’s Broker Heath Lambert. He was promoted to Managing Director of Heath Lambert’s Marine Division. In 2004, he joined Willis Group where he became an Executive Director within the Global Marine Division.
