The Global Energy Industry is as diverse and dynamic as it has ever been. Energy will be the driving factor for the coming decades and demand for Energy will continue to increase exponentially. Countries’ supplies will have to be protected from disruption. And this energy will need to be produced in environmentally and socially responsible ways, including dealing with greenhouse gas emissions and carbon capture initiatives. This is the energy challenge. Meeting it, is fast becoming one of the defining tests facing our generation, our society, and the energy industry, this century.

The increasing diversity of the Global Energy Industry sees the commercial realisation of large energy renewable resources like solar, wind and biofuels, along with plans for increasing the supply of more nuclear energy, more coal, and more oil and natural gas from difficult-to-reach locations or unconventional sources like oil sands. With supplies of easily accessible traditional oil and gas reserves falling short of the demand, the Energy Industry is faced with the challenge of meeting consumer demand from an evermore expensive and hazardous portfolio of exploration and production opportunities.

Willis is one of the leading professional insurance consultants within the Energy Industry providing energy clients with independent consultancy on risk and insurance issues. With a worldwide operating platform consisting of some 20,000 employees, our branches, subsidiaries and associates operate through over 300 offices in 72 countries. This strong global franchise is bolstered further by accredited correspondent offices in an additional 34 territories. In June 2008, Willis acquired Hilb Rogal & Hobbs (HRH), one of the largest brokers in the United States. This has further extended our global presence with an additional 140 offices spread throughout the United States and the World.

We are separated into two distinct units, with our Global Energy Practice responsible for Upstream and Downstream Operational and Offshore Construction Projects and our Global Construction Services (GCS) Practice responsible for Downstream Onshore Construction Projects. The downstream onshore construction core service delivery team comprises highly experienced insurance professionals who have a proven track record of delivering the highest standards of service and products to our clients over a number of years. The team has worked together as a collective resource on numerous energy sector projects over the past 15 years and the synchronicity, experience and strong team work ethic will continue to be the driving force in our service offering to our clients over the coming months and years.

It has generally been Willis’ practice on Construction Projects, to ensure that we assemble the greatest depth of Willis' specialist resource in order to be able to deliver the optimum insurance coverage at the optimum price with the best quality service capability. Our ongoing commitment to our clients is to devote as much time and resource as is needed in order to achieve and to exceed their expectations and requirements.
